Immediate problems came up. The website design whilst attractive has poor usability, which is understandably why many of you have never made accounts and those who did rarely posted comments. I had become involved to pursue a writing bug that I had picked up whilst writing my own blog, and eventually moving onto SourceJunky. Instead of being able to relax and be creative I had to trawl other scene websites to keep the website updated. Our initial plan of focusing on articles rather than news soon went out the window as people had other issues to focus on and I was left in charge. People commented on how our news was always behind other websites, and when all was said and done that responsibility was left on my shoulders.

Richard "Gonzo" Lewis is a great believer in free press, people should be able to write what and when they want, a belief that I have picked up. Many other websites have to adhere to rules set out by their sponsors, and a foul word said against them is met with strong displeasure. Inside Source was supposed to be the website where any news could be covered, we wouldn't have to worry about stepping on toes or not getting this months funding as most of it was funded by Gonzo and Chef. The ethos remains the same, even whilst doing the Friday Night In on Tigit's radio stream our sponsors did not require mentioning. Whether or not free press was being utilised, there had to be people to write it. In the end it was left to me as Richard was faced with real life issues that had to be attended to, and Chef became increasingly focused on TLR. Help came in the form of adn, jonnyW and most recently cra1g, but it was too little too late. The userbase we had enticed at i-33 vanished.

Nothing went right, and try as we might the idea never got off the ground.

When it became clear that Inside Source was not long for this world I began asking around and seeing if I could get any other journalism gigs. First option that came up was as a writer for the new Infused website which I accepted and is a commitment I plan to honour. In fact with Gonzo as the new CS: Source manager it is quite possible that you will see us both working closely with the organisation. When starting off in a small set up, you always wonder about going big. I've written articles for Inside Source that can compare or even better most of the content on more major websites, and I was always disappointed that it would never get read. About two weeks ago I began talking with Westerman from GotFrag. We discussed the situation and eventually Gonzo, JonnyW and myself were offered positions there (and I'm sure there will be a few other news posts on the matter to clear things up). Another person who should be joining us shortly is Sir_Pyrate formerly of TNWA, so the news team looks to be good. Everything I write there will get thousands more views than on Inside Source and the opportunity was too good to miss.
